- First, turn off the water supplies to the faucet.
- After you have successfully shut off your water supplies to the faucet you will need to open the hot and cold handle to release all water that may be left inline.
- Remove the index button from the handle and place it into a box. Then take a Phillips head screwdriver and insert it into the screw inside the handle and turn left once you have removed the screw and handle place them both into your box of parts.
- After the handle is removed from the faucet you will be able to see the stem adaptor. The stem adaptor has a set screw that will need to be loosened in order to remove it. Insert your Allen wrench into the set screw and turn to the left. Once you feel the set screw loosen remove the stem adaptor and place it into your box.
- Now that these parts are removed you’ll need to remove the handle flange. This part can be removed by hand by turning to the left. After you have removed the handle flange you will need to remove the cartridge locknut from the handle flange.
- After the handle flange and cartridge locknut are removed you will see a plastic cartridge cover. Grab the cartridge cover pull it up and place it inside your box of parts. You will now see the faucets stainless steel ball cartridge and you will be able to remove it by pulling up on its stem.
- Now that the cartridge is no longer in the faucet you will notice a pair of seats and springs to remove these take a Phillips head screwdriver and insert it into the center of the rubber seat and remove it. Below the rubber seat, you will find a spring, this piece will also need to be removed. Also, pay attention to the way that the spring is inserted with the larger part facing down.
- Take your new stainless steel ball cartridge out of your box and reinsert it by fitting the slit that is on the ball and fit it with the notch inside the valve body.
- Grab your handle flange out of your box and place it above the cartridge cover. Retighten the handle flange by turning it to the right. Now take your cartridge locknut and place it above the handle flange. You can tighten this item by using a box cutter and inserting it into the notches on the cartridge locknut and turning about a ¼ turn or until snug.
- Now take your stem adaptor and insert the cartridge stem into it. Take your Allen wrench and tighten the set screw on the stem adaptor. Take your handle and cover the stem adaptor by placing the handle in its proper place, take your handle screw and retighten the screw until the handle is secure. Now you can take your index button and cover the screw, and now you have done.
