Why is an aerator flow rate marking is required?

To comply with the code ASME A112.18.1M, flow rate markings will be printed on all Kingston Brass faucets on the aerator or on the spout.

This code requires plumbing fixtures with flow rate markings on a visible spot on or around the aerator.
