CALGreen is the first mandatory green building standards code, formerly known as the California Green Building Standards Code. The main purpose is to improve public health, safety, and general welfare by enhancing designs and construction of structural building from applying concepts that reduce negative effects, advocate for positive environmental impacting principles, and encourage sustainable construction practices.
Five divisions of building construction:
- Planning and design
- Energy efficiency
- Water efficiency and conservation
- Material conservation and resource efficiency
- Environmental quality
CALGreen is a registered trademark of the State of California Building Standards Commission.
