Common Cause
Usually, the issue is caused by a broken pivot rod or the there was a problem with adjusting the road.
Solution
Check the pivot rod for any animalities. This rod should be installed on the rear of the drain and a plastic/brass nut will be provided to secure the rod in place. Once you have found the nut, it can be unscrewed to see the pivot pod. If the rod is damaged or broken, you will need to replace it.
A) If nothing is broken, then you will just need to reconnect the conjunction with the lift rod. Verify is inserted into the lift rod strap and secure it down with the screw.
B) Then try to connect the spring clip to the lift rod strap and ball rod.
C) Lift and keep the drain plug in the fully open position, and then loosen the lift rod strap, so you can adjust the lift rod height. Make sure the top of the lift rod clears the faucet, then tighten the lift rod strap screw to secure it in the current position.
