Care and maintenance of Kingston Brass finishes

Kingston Brass’ finishes are achieved by different methods, more specifically:

PVD This is physical vapor deposition, a space-age technology that makes the finish impervious to pitting or corrosion, or PVD finishes include PB, PN, BB, RG.

• Electroplated This is the same technology that has been around for many years. Its characteristics vary depending on the finish; because Chrome is such a hardy finish, it does not require an additional lacquer coating, thus the reason it has been used in automotive parts since the early 20^th
• Electroplated and lacquered, because the finishes react differently to environmental agents, it was necessary to add a lacquer coating in order to preserve the original look of these finishes. AC,AB,ORB,BN,NB,BSS,NBSS
• Powdered coating a more sturdy option required to achieve colors that cannot be electroplated. WH, BK, MB

Care and Maintenance - (HOW TO MAINTAIN YOUR FAUCET FINISHES)

PVD

Although PVD is the most durable finish, nonetheless, it is still recommended that:

• You wipe it down periodically; this will prevent the accumulation of mineral deposits.
• You do not use any type of scouring pad.

Electroplated (unlacquered)

• Please wipe dry after use to prevent the accumulation of mineral deposits.
• Clean with non-abrasive cleaners

Electroplated (lacquered), it is protected by a high-grade lacquer coating. Although it may be durable, it will still require some care and maintenance to keep your fixtures looking as new for many years to come.

• On installation, use only silicone-based caulking; do not use plumbers putty as this may affect the lacquer coating.
• After every use, dry all surfaces; this will prevent the accumulation of mineral deposits on the surface.
• Clean only with mild soap and water.
• Do not use any abrasive sponges or scouring pads.
• Periodically, apply a thin coating of non-abrasive carnauba wax.

Powder coating

 We recommend the same care as in the case of the lacquered electroplated finishes.
